Meet your expert presenter

Patricia Peat is an integrative cancer specialist who’s helped thousands of people navigate their cancer diagnosis. She’s passionate about encouraging the safe integration of complementary treatments alongside orthodox cancer treatments.

Patricia spent many years as an oncology nurse in the NHS oncology wards supporting people as they underwent standard treatments. The therapeutic relationship was always incredibly important to her but she took little notice of complementary and alternative therapies. Until, she began to notice that patients who were using a range of other therapies were actually faring better than expected. At the same time she became aware of these patients intense frustrations that their doctors were unable and unwilling to support their choices.

In 1998 she set up Cancer Options to empower people dealing with cancer to explore the widest range of treatment options, tailored to their individual needs. The development of Cancer Options has given her an unparalleled overview of what’s helpful for different types of cancer and at different stages. 

She uses a metabolic, integrative approach, which enables her to consider positive strategies at every stage of cancer, from prevention through to post treatment.

She offers courses through the Peat Institute, which was set up to provide an education and support resource for practitioners and carers supporting people with cancer. 

And is also a medical adviser to Yes to Life and the Integrated Healthcare Trust and a patron of CANCERactive.

In 2016 she authored a book, The Cancer Revolution, with 37 expert contributions including one from ANH founder, Rob Verkerk. It remains a great resource for people dealing with a cancer diagnosis and health professionals supporting cancer patients.
